In 1867, Ziegler & Company of Manchester, a British firm of Swiss origin, set up shop in Sultanabad for the manufacturing and exporting of the finest decorative rugs to the United States & Europe. Ziegler’s Sultanabad rugs were originally cartooned after 16th and 17th century Persian “Shah Abbas” and “Vase” carpets with an interpretation of color and execution of design in their ultimate form. Antique Ziegler carpets are among the most sought after in the decorative world and have been made in sizes ranging from small to mansion.
